NCEE partners with states, districts and higher education institutions to help administrators get advanced credit or degrees for the NISL program.
NCEE partners with universities that waive credits required for doctoral degrees—making those degrees much faster to attain and more affordable for NISL graduates. Accrediting agencies require that the program be delivered with NCEE faculty utilizing our direct delivery or hybrid train-the-trainer models.
NCEE works with states and districts that prefer to have in-state university partners grant or waive credits toward advanced degrees or certification. A listing of all current NCEE university partnerships can be downloaded here.
University professors who are NISL facilitators may deliver NISL and award credentials, a model that the state of Minnesota used with the University of Minnesota. In Mississippi, NCEE maintains a relationship with the University of Mississippi and provides training to nearby districts.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires novice principals to complete the Pennsylvania Inspired Leaders (PIL) program to receive their Level II Certification. At the core of the PIL program is the NISL curriculum, delivered by Pennsylvania Intermediate Units and other partners at eight regional sites. NCEE has also worked with other states and districts to assure that NISL participants receive professional learning units or credit towards locally-required professional development.
Most leadership coaching is a proxy for mentoring, in that it is informal, unfocused and limited in rigor and scope. The NISL coaching model is different—a researched-based coaching methodology that provides school leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to build strong, effective coaching relationships with their staff, and to drive improvements in instruction across classrooms. An entire unit of NISL focuses on equipping participating school leaders with a research-based coaching model that allows them to go beyond teacher evaluation to truly improve the instructional practice of teachers.
