Janet Strauss serves as the New England Coordinator for the National Institute for School Leadership (NISL), an Executive Development Program (EDP) for school and district leaders. Janet coordinates a statewide implementation of NISL in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and has overseen NISL’s EDP training for over 1,200 school leaders in the Commonwealth. Janet is also responsible for the coordination of NISL trainings across New England as well as New York and New Jersey. Janet provides quality assurance for the over 25 NISL-trained New England facilitators and is responsible for marketing, client services, and facilitation of the EDP. She also supports the implementation of NISL in Missouri (and other states to follow).
In addition, Janet supports the design and development of instructional curriculum, which includes a 3 –Day English Language Learners Institute for principals. Prior to joining NISL in 2007, Janet was a classroom teacher, school psychologist, and high school leader for a nontraditional high school in Western Massachusetts. Janet earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Skidmore College, a Master’s Degree from Smith College in Education and Child Study and a CAGS from University of Massachusetts Amherst in School Psychology. She is currently completing a doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Education, Policy, Research and Administration.
