Overview

Modernizing an education system in which all students thrive starts with understanding what works now, and what is needed in the future.

Discovery Analysis

Ready to deeply understand the intricacies of the education system in your district or school? We offer a collaborative approach that transforms learning environments by identifying the enabling conditions and system supports needed for success. Through on-site classroom visits, artifact collection, and interviews with key learning community members, we’ll gather and analyze data to compare your current system against proven high-performing models.

The process culminates in a visioning workshop, where your leadership team assesses the findings, identifying strengths and gaps, and uncovers new pathways for improvement. Teams will:

  • Gain a clear understanding of your school/district’s baseline status and actionable pathways to pursue for elevating student success.
  • Understand how to leverage existing strong practices to close key gaps and create coherence and alignment with your vision of student success.

Linking Assessment and Data for Continuous Improvement

Data literacy and capacity challenges is a challenge for many. Many regions/districts/schools across the United States have embraced continuous improvement (CI) approaches, but often times, the improvement cycles are unaligned or disconnected with other data use practices as well as assessments.

We guide you through an in-depth analysis of how your current system is using data and evidence to track student performance, and identify ways to align assessment and improvement cycles for better outcomes. Together, we’ll:

  • determine the current state;
  • compare the current state with research findings from top performing systems;
  • identify areas to strengthen and/or change;  and,
  • build internal capacity.

You’ll have the tools to improve data and assessment literacy, streamline your assessment program, and create an effective strategy for using data to support student success.

Intended for:

Duration:

Six half-day, non-consecutive virtual sessions, and one concluding day that can be in-person or virtual.

Designing Systems that Work

This extended learning experience emphasizes the integral role of education in fostering a robust democracy, economic prosperity, and fulfilling lives. It provides U.S. districts and schools with a comprehensive framework for transformative educational practices focused on excellence, efficiency, and equity..

Offering Phases:

  • Discovery & Analysis: Involves a thorough examination of your education system compared to top performing systems and evidence-based best practices. By assessing needs against proven strategies, teams identify potential improvements and explore impactful solutions, ensuring choices are well-suited to local contexts and capable of significant enhancements.
  • Design in Action: Selected strategies and practices are developed, focusing on specific changes in student experiences or system structures that promise substantial impacts. This phase ensures the co-design of actionable, practical plans poised for implementation.
  • Implement and Lead Change: Focuses on executing the strategies and practices effectively, establishing a cycle of continuous improvement for system transformation.

Through this offering, we partner with local education leaders to tailor interventions that are context-specific, blending deep local insights with global best practices and evidence-based research. Anticipating the Future

There are always multiple versions of the future—some of them assumptions, some of them hopes and fears, some of the projections. Using the most recent global mega-trends and the Four OECD Scenarios for the Future of Schooling as a starting point, this learning experience offers an exploration of the future, helping participants to:

  • understand global mega-trends shaping the future of education: their complexities, possible disruptions, and normative implications of what the future might hold.
  • use plausible future scenarios of education to analyze systemic impacts on the goals, organization and structures, teaching workforce and governance of education.
  • reveal and test assumptions, stress-test and future-proof plans, and generate shared visions of the future to support action in the present.

This interactive workshop/lab/seminar/institute is custom-designed for educational leaders in policy, practice, and research. It systematically explores different plausible futures of education, consequences and impacts of those futures, the opportunities and challenges they could present, and implications for action. We then use those ideas to make better decisions and act now.

Intended for:

Policymakers, Practitioners, Philanthropists, and more. Can also be a combined regional/local group of diverse stakeholders.

Duration:

Tailored to needs and interest of audience:

  • 2.5 hour workshops
  • 1 – 1.5 day seminars/labs
  • 3 day institute
