As we look around the corner to the occupations of tomorrow, schools and states will need to be more dynamic and future oriented–especially when it comes to career and technical education. – Vicki Phillips in Forbes

Are Students Ready to Thrive in an Interconnected World?

This webinar from October 27, 2020 featured the OECD’s Andreas Schleicher and NCEE’s Anthony Mackay in a discussion focused on findings from the sixth and final volume of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 results.

This latest volume of the PISA 2018 results—Are Students Ready to Thrive in an Interconnected World?—explores students’ ability to examine issues of local, global and cultural significance; understand and appreciate the perspectives and worldviews of others; engage in open, appropriate and effective interactions across cultures; and take action for collective well-being and sustainable development.

OECD Director for Education and Skills Andreas Schleicher and NCEE President and CEO Anthony Mackay examined findings from Volume VI, which also explores students’ experiences of global and intercultural learning at school and beyond, and, though the U.S. did not participate in this portion of PISA, discuss implications of the report’s findings.
