On May 26, 2021, OECD Director for Education and Skills Andreas Schleicher and NCEE President and CEO Anthony Mackay examined findings from the OECD’s latest study 21st-Century Reader: Developing Literacy Skills in a Digital World, as well as its implications for educators and policy makers.

This new study explores how students are developing reading skills to navigate the technology filled world of the 21st century. The report provides new insights into ways to strengthen student skills, where our greatest challenges are with respect to helping students navigate ambiguity, and how to address the digital divide.
