Recently, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) released the fifth volume in their series of reports on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 results. The report, Effective Policies, Successful Schools, analyzes schools and school systems and their relationship with education outcomes. To marks its release, NCEE President and CEO Anthony Mackay was joined by OECD Director for Education and Skills Andreas Schleicher for a webinar to discuss the report’s findings, including what policies and practices have the strongest associations with performance, equity and student well-being, and examine what they mean in light of the coronavirus pandemic. During the webinar, Schleicher highlighted the need for the U.S. to better align resources with the students and schools that need them most, noting that high-performing education systems tend to more equitably align their resources to needs.
