Discussions of the importance of AI in education are happening worldwide

With transformational changes in technology, education and the economy, it is no longer sufficient to study only what has brought success in the past. Across the globe, discussions focused on the future of education and the workforce are happening every day. From community forums to congressional briefings to industry convenings, these conversations are essential for sharing best practices, distributing new data and driving thoughtful policy and practice in every country.

NCEE is pleased to contribute to such conversations along with our colleagues in other countries as we explore policies and principles that can guide U.S. and international education to success in the future. Over recent months, NCEE has contributed to a number of national and international convenings, including:

  • WISE Summit 2019 – A gathering of thousands of educators, decision makers and education experts to reimagine and build the future of education. WISE 2019 explored what makes us uniquely human in an age of technological transformation.
  • Forum for World Education – Hosted by the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development, this forum on the future of education brought together global leaders in business and education to explore principles of tomorrow’s education systems and create new visions for what people should learn and how.
  • Council of State Governments National Conference – This meeting of state officials featured a panel on the future of work that explored how states can navigate challenges and opportunities of the new economy and how K-12 and higher education are adapting to better prepare students for the jobs of the future.
  • Global Education Industry Summit 2019 – A meeting of education ministers and leaders from around the world, this year’s summit focused on principles of good policy and practice in dealing with data in education.
  • Committee on Education Funding Hill Briefing – This briefing held on Capitol Hill highlighted the importance of education to the economy and national security and featured remarks from congressmen and national education experts.

“The dialogue happening around the future of learning and the future of work is more important than ever,” Anthony Mackay, president and CEO of NCEE, said. “These conversations allow emerging research, policy and practice to be shared and offer valuable lessons for the U.S.”
