Maryland has allocated more than $850 million in extra funding to public schools over two years based on recommendations from the Maryland Commission on Innovation and Excellence in Education. The money will go toward increasing teacher pay, expanding prekindergarten, creating “community schools” to provide additional services to families in high-poverty areas, and much more.
